🐊🎪 WESTGATE CARNIVAL: WHAT A SUCCESS!
Our Westgate Carnival was a HUGE success! 🎉 We had so much fun celebrating with our awesome Westgate community, and we hope all of our Gator families had just as much fun!
A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came out, volunteered their time, donated items, and helped make this night possible. Events like these wouldn’t happen without the support of our incredible school community!
An extra-special shoutout to our amazing parent volunteers, Anna H. and Liz K.! 💚🐊 Thank you for putting together another incredible night and for all the time, energy, and heart you pour into making these events special for our students and families. We couldn’t do it without you!
We’re so grateful for our Gator community and all the memories we get to make together. Until next time, Gator families!

our fundraiser is officially over! 📚🐊
And now that it’s over, we just want to say THANK YOU. Truly.
Thank you to every family who donated, every person who shared our fundraiser, every friend and family member who supported our students, and everyone who helped us along the way. Every single contribution, big or small, helped us get closer to our goal.
We made it just under 75% of the way there! While we didn’t quite reach our goal, we are incredibly proud of what our Westgate community was able to accomplish together. We came so close — and what we raised will still make a BIG difference for our kids.
Now, we can’t wait to put these dollars to work for our students, staff, and Westgate community. 💚
These funds will help us support our incredible staff, create fun experiences, bring joy to our school, and make the kind of childhood memories our kids will carry with them for years to come.

🍂 Classroom Fall Parties — Volunteers are Needed!
Our fun fall classroom parties will take place on Friday, October 30th!
Party Schedule:
-
2:15 PM: Parent volunteers arrive for setup
-
2:30–3:00 PM: Classroom parties
-
3:10–3:20 PM: Halloween parade
⏳ We are still in need of parent volunteers for each classroom to help host our classroom parties, and many classrooms still have empty volunteer spots! We need your help filling them. Check out the sign up here!
Each classroom needs a lead parent to coordinate with the teacher and other parent volunteers to plan and organize the party.
✏️ Signing up as soon as possible is important so background checks have time to be processed and confirmed, and teachers and parent volunteers have plenty of time to plan activities for our kiddos. Please sign up by Wednesday, October 21st.
If the background check has not been completed, volunteers will be unable to attend the party. Please fill out this Google Form to begin the process. After completing the form, look for an email from Westside Community Schools with instructions to initiate the background check process.
🎃 Halloween Parade
All Westgate families are invited to join us in the front of the school for the return of our Halloween Parade!
Families planning to attend should arrive between 3:00 and 3:10 PM and gather along the parade route. A map showing the parade route and designated viewing areas will be shared the week of the event.
Costume Guidelines
To help ensure a safe and fun celebration, please review the following guidelines with your child:
-
Students may bring a costume to wear for the parade.
-
Costumes must be worn over regular clothes. Students will not change clothes at school.
-
Costumes should be school-appropriate. No offensive, scary, or inappropriate themes.
-
No weapons, real or fake, are allowed as part of costumes.
-
Please, no makeup.
-
Costumes should be brought to school in a clearly labeled bag and should not be worn to school.
Dismissal Reminders
After the parade, students will return to their classrooms and prepare for dismissal at 3:30 PM as usual. Teachers will follow regular daily dismissal routines.
Please be patient, as the parties and parade may cause longer dismissal wait times. We appreciate your flexibility! Thank you for helping us ensure a safe, respectful, and responsible Fall Fun celebration.

📦 BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Did you know our school participates in the Box Tops program?!
Back in the day, our parents sent us to school with baggies stuffed full of Box Tops clipped from everyday grocery products, helping to raise funds for our schools. While the way we collect them looks a little different now, the fundraising opportunity is still just as valuable!
All you have to do is scan the QR code below, download the Box Tops app, register, and start scanning your grocery receipts from stores like Aldi, Baker’s, Hy-Vee, Costco, and more. 🛒
And it gets even better! Box Tops offers sign-up bonuses, referral bonuses, and monthly challenges —all of which can help our school earn even more. 🙌
They even have promotional rebates and challenges that earns your family free or discounted products!
Would you believe that, to date, our school has earned just under $13,000 through this program?! That’s an incredible amount of money raised from something as simple as scanning receipts for everyday products we buy. 💚
If remembering to scan your receipts doesn’t feel realistic, there’s an easy solution: connect your Walmart account to the Box Tops app. That way, you can continue earning for our school without having to remember to scan anything!
Every little bit adds up, so if you haven’t already, download the app and start earning for our school today! 🍎📚
Simply Scan the QR code below to sign up and help the school earn funds with your regular daily purchases. You can also use the referral code (PGD303WP) to sign up when you download the 'Box Tops' app on your phone.
